The Art of Practicing - Reading Together - The Dancing Body

Playing any instrument - even singing - is a physical activity. As you play your instrument, make sure you are aware of your physical movements and how they affect both you and your instrument.

"Follow-through is what happens when you hit a tennis ball: Your arm keeps moving after the ball leaves the racket. Similarly, when you play a note or phrase on the piano, the hand and arm often want to continue moving in some way after you strike the key(s). Let them keep moving naturally instead of freezing in any one position or limiting your range of movement." (loc: 2582)

note: I'm reading this book from through my Kindle app, so quotations are shown by the location in the Kindle document.
