A Million Little Ways - Reading Together
Welcome to the newest Reading Together series. I'll be posting a summary about our reading each week on Tuesdays. Come join us!
We'll be reading A Million Little Ways by Emily Freeman. You can get a copy from your local library, your favorite bookstore, or pick up a copy from Amazon.
We'll read one chapter a week.
I'll post about the first installment on Tuesday, March 12. That means you have two weeks to get a copy of the book and to read the first chapter.
The great thing about this program is that it allows us to read works together that can help us in our professional development as well as providing a level of accountability and the added interest of comparing notes as we read together.

Mastering the Art of Performance - Reading Together - Performance Careers in Retrospect
"Instead, try to diffuse frustration and impatience, for doing so will almost always hasten getting across the plateau. Try to continue to work at a steady, intense pace, holding firm to the belief that growth is taking place in invisible but necessary ways. By the same token, you must not go so far in accepting a plateau that you become complacent."
(page 186, Kindle edition)
"On the other hand, burnout can be treacherous. It can goad you into making changes without having given enough thought to either the consequences or a realistic consideration of what a new activity entails on a day-to-day basis. Careful consideration is the key. Contemplate change with your eyes wide open and your head cleared of half-formed, romanticized misconceptions. Such consideration may act like a bucket of cold water on the flame of your adventure, but not necessarily so. It might strengthen your resolve to take the plunge."

Mastering the Art of Performance - Reading Together - Physical Challenge and Performance
"If your days of public achievement are over, don’t expend energy wallowing in memories of past glory, but rather use this energy to create alternate ways in which you can still contribute. In short, work to accept as quickly as possible what can’t be changed, and get on with what is still possible."
