Minnesota Sings 2018: Audition to Represent Eden Prairie!
Represent the voice of Eden Prairie!
If you are an amateur vocalist, between the ages of 15 and 25 and either live, work or attend school in Eden Prairie you could represent us at this year’s Minnesota Sings!
Minnesota Sings is a competition between cities throughout Minnesota open to 15-25 year-old amateur vocalists competing for their share of over $10,000 in prizes. Each participating city puts on their own “Sings” event. The winner AND runner-up of that event have the honor of representing Eden Prairie at Minnesota Sings. Area amateurs that have passion for singing should submit the Page #2 Application Form by email.
The Eden Prairie auditions will be held at the 2018 Optimist Club ‘Eden Prairie Sings!’ on Thursday, June 21st at the Staring Lake Amphitheater, starting at 5:00 pm. The auditions are held prior to the showing of Eden Prairie’s Summer Musical “Beauty & the Beast” running June 15 - 17 and 21 - 24, 7:00 PM. Depending on the field size of competitors signed up, auditions may extend to Friday or Saturday finals.
The Minnesota Sings finals will be held Saturday, September 29th & Sunday, September 30th at the Courtyard by Marriott in Woodbury, MN. The registration fee for the Minnesota Sings finals is covered by the Eden Prairie Optimist Club.
Contestant must provide CD backing track to sing to. You may use a commercially produced one, or record your own. Your CD may include background singers and/or harmonies. Total length of your song may not exceed 5 minutes. Lyrics must not contain any profanity. The song and lyrics must be memorized.

Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire: Business Sense & Sensibility - Reading Together - Life is Lived in Episodes and Stages
"Ideally, the thoughts presented here can stimulate introspection and personal growth no matter where you are along the career road. The ideas are wide-ranging, from style to stress and even to etiquette, reflecting that a life in business is holistic and about pleasures more than pain."
(page 7, Kindle Edition)
"Life is lived in episodes and stages. Episodes because they are roughly self-contained and somewhat arbitrary, at least as they relate to time and place."
(page 11, Kindle Edition)
"I learned the importance of doing more than is expected and that there are lots of good ideas in business, but execution is what matters."
(page 14, Kindle Edition)

Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire: Business Sense & Sensibility - Reading Together
Welcome to the newest Reading Together series. I'll be posting a summary about our reading each week on Tuesdays. Come join us!
We'll be reading Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire: Business Sense & Sensibility by Mireille Guiliano. You can get a copy from your local library, your favorite bookstore, or pick up a copy from Amazon.
We'll read one chapter a week.
I'll post about the first installment on Tuesday, February 20. That means you have two weeks to get a copy of the book and to read the first chapter.
The great thing about this program is that it allows us to read works together that can help us in our professional development as well as providing a level of accountability and the added interest of comparing notes as we read together.
