Charity Highlight - Guitars 4 Vets

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are somehow involved with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Guitars 4 Vets. This organization enhances the lives of ailing and injured military veterans by providing them with free guitars and music instruction. It uses the healing power of music to help veterans cope with physical injuries and emotional distress, particularly PTSD.

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are somehow involved with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Jazz Foundation of America. This organization is dedicated to providing housing assistance, pro bono medical care, disaster relief, and direct financial support to jazz, blues, and roots musicians, helping them navigate crises and continue their careers.

The next charity I want to highlight is Playing For Change Foundation. Growing from the popular "Songs Around the World" video series, this foundation builds and supports music and arts schools for children in communities around the globe, from Africa to Latin America and beyond.

The first charity I want to highlight is Music Will. This organization transforms music education by focusing on student-centered, popular music genres like rock, pop, and hip-hop. They provide instruments and a modern curriculum to schools, empowering children to play the music they know and love.

Charity Highlight - MusicLink Foundation

During the month of November, I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The final charity I want to highlight this month is the MusicLink Foundation. The MusicLink Foundation is a non-profit organization that links promising students in need with professional music teachers who volunteer to teach on partial to full scholarship for as long as these students wish to learn. The MusicLink Foundation also assists in the purchase and repair of instruments, moving costs for donated pianos, camp scholarships for our students, and coordination and expansion of programs into new communities across the country.

Charity Highlight - Musicians On Call

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Musicians on Call. Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. By delivering live, in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, we add a dose of joy to life in a healthcare facility.

During the month of November I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation keeps music alive in our schools by providing vital support services to school districts, and new musical instruments to underfunded music programs nationwide, giving economically-disadvantaged youth access to the many benefits of music education, leading them to success in school, and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music.

Charity Highlight - Musicians Without Borders

During the month of November I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The first charity I want to highlight is Musicians Without Borders. Musicians Without Borders was founded in 1999 and has done work in Europe, Central Eastern Asia, and Central America. They work with local musicians and organizations to build sustainable programs around the world. They use music as a tool to build connections, foster empathy and shape communities. Studies have shown that music is a powerful tool that can influence behavior, shape culture and strengthen social bonds. They use music as a means to address the needs of societies divided and affected by conflict.

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Music for Youth. Music for Youth is a youth music charity working with young people aged 25 and under across the UK. Their vision is to ensure that every young person in the UK can achieve their musical potential by performing the music they love. They believe that music, and the chance to participate in high-quality musical activities, should be open to every young person.

Charity Highlight - The Mockingbird Foundation

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is The Mockingbird Foundation. The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1997 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community and beyond. Since they are entirely volunteer-run, administrative costs are less than 5% of revenues! So far, they have distributed over $2.3M to support music education for children – 652 grants in all 50 states!

Charity Highlight - Music for Relief

During the month of November, I am highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Music for Relief. Music for Relief, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, is dedicated to providing aid to survivors and communities affected by natural disasters to help them recover and rebuild. Founded by the band Linkin Park in 2005, the program aims to support immediate and long-term disaster relief with a primary goal of making a powerful and sustainable impact in highly affected areas.

Charity Highlight - Hungry for Music

During the month of November, I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is Hungry for Music. The Hungry for Music story began in 1992, when Founder and Director Jeff Campbell (in photo) organized a street musician concert to benefit the homeless. Within three years, he formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to expanding opportunities in music for children.
Since then, Hungry for Music has placed more than 16,000 instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians. Children whose trajectory has been altered by the uplifting and life-changing gift of music.

Charity Highlight - The Roots of Music

During the month of November, I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is The Roots of Music. The Roots of Music was created in 2007 during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, by Derrick Tabb, Grammy winner and CNN Hero. The Roots of Music is true to its name: they are the roots of music education and culture in their city. Tabb watched as many of their city’s music education programs did not come back in the wake of the storm and he knew that in order to save the lives of the city’s youth as well as its culture, he had to create a space for youth and music to thrive. From its humble beginnings as a six-week drum camp at Tipitina’s, a bar and music venue, to being a $1 million dollar organization with three programs and full wrap-around support services, The Roots of Music has held true to the belief that music saves lives.

Established in 1989 by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, MusiCares was created to aid musicians who may feel that they have nowhere to turn when confronted with a financial, personal, or medical crisis. MusiCares consistently partners with other outstanding artists and organizations, like Faith Family Medical Clinic, Actors Fund, Bohemian Foundation, and many more to help them provide the most thorough assistance possible.

Charity Highlight - Music Fund

During the month of November, I am going to be highlighting different charities that are involved somehow with music.

The next charity I want to highlight is the Music Fund. Music Fund is a humanitarian project that supports musicians and music schools in conflict areas and developing countries. Music Fund collects instruments, repairs them, and gives them a second life in 16 projects in Africa, the Middle East, and Central America. They also train instrument repairers and offer the exchange of teaching skills.
